amelia

it's been a couple days coming, this post and the only other exciting thing that's happened is we've discovered that dalia is 20 pounds! Goodness, our big girl is getting bigger. anyway, jen and amelia came over for a great visit this week and we got to play outside. it was monumental as dalia played in the dirt and rocks and didn't attempt to put one thing in her mouth. amazing! here are a couple of photos from the morning. there are more at amelia's blog www.bettycrockerass.blogspot.com.

Noun

Last night Mark, Dalia and I got out for a rare dinner out. We stopped by Noun to visit some of our favorite people, Thom and Steph. Steph showed Dalia this great xylophone they just got for the store. She was a natural at playing it. Since we're on the subject of Noun, they have a new blog. Check it out: http://shopnoun.com/grammargirl/

Pickin'

For those of you not around Dalia regularly, we must tell you this child loves blueberries. Seriously, folks, her butt has been stained blue on numerous occasions over the past month and it's not because I leave her hanging out in a dirty diaper. She could eat a flat of blueberries in a day if you let her. We've actually been rationing the berries this week as it was getting out of control. While we know she enjoys the flavor - don't we all - it's obvious she likes them mostly because they are so fun to pick up and put in her mouth. So, you won't be surprised to hear she had just about the greatest time picking blueberries today. Mark, Dalia and I met Amy, Archer and Jonas at the nearest organic blueberry fields on Sauvie Island this morning. Here are a few photos and a video. The video is incriminating evidence, as we did not weigh Dalia and pay for what she ate along the way.

bridge city

Dalia had a baby date with Archer at Bridge City Comics this week. We had the pleasure of meeting Naomi, BC's owner (okay, the owners are her parents). Last we saw of Naomi she was floating around her mom's womb as was Dalia and Archer, so it was fun to meet finally. Nice to see Cameron and Michael too.

rockin out

I've been meaning to post this video of Connor and Dalia rockin' out for the past two days, but she has refused to sleep in the evening, so I've been heading off to bed early. Anyway, we captured the tail end of her dancing to the guitar, but I think you'll get the picture. She loves music and loves to dance. Oh, and her cousin Connor who is, at 11, a pretty rockin' guitar player. Can't wait to hang out at camp. We'll bring the guitar.

auntie and cousin

It's too bad Connor didn't make it to state championships this year but we sure are glad he got to come down to Portland instead and visit with his cous' Dalia. She, of course, loved him and Aunt Robin. We had so much fun. Here are some photos from our adventures.

Hangin' out watchin baseball and being silly

This is from our day at the park

round objects and owen thomas

Dalia is obsessed with round things - balls, wheels, door knobs, eyes. Anyway, we had the honor of taking dinner to two of our favorite new parents, Matt and Amy and visiting with their new guy, Owen. So, naturally, Dalia discovered the line of skateboards in the hallway. Here are some photos from the evening.

is it vanity or just plain cute?

Well, everyone knows Dalia loves the camera, but did you know she loves the mirror just as much (and shoes, too, actually). Check out her door opening and closing skills. What do you think she's saying?

The park, archer and carrots

We had the rare and wonderful treat of being OUTSIDE at the park with Archer and Amy, EATING. Archer has just begun the fabulous road of solid food and today seemed to love carrots. I'm sure the surroundings helped. Dalia was eating apple chunks, uncooked for the first time. I'm sure we'll look back and laugh at what we found so remarkable today. Amy and I had a great time hanging out, pretending to blend with the sellwood moms.

bah bah

Dalia loves round objects. They are all balls - peas, balloons, balls, lights, O's - all of which she calls "bah". But last week, Grammy got her this rad grocery store ball, you remember the kind. She has since learned how to bounce the ball and move it all over the house. Here are a couple of cool videos. Be sure to turn up the sound if you have it.

Violet is 1

Here are some of our photos from Violet's birthday party. You can check out others, I'm sure, on Violet and Jen & Amelia's blogs too. Many months ago, when Dalia was only 2 months old, we went to Violet's for a mom's brunch and took some funny photos. You can look back to the beginning of this blog to see. Anyway, all the same babies were there only older now, so we set them up on the couch again for a repeat. Sadly, Henry made Violet cry again. Poor Violet. I guess it was her party and she could cry if she wanted to.

Some photos from 4th of July with Thom, Steph, Grammy and Pops (as usual).
