Easter

Our adventures for easter, a bit late. We visited Owen, Cecily and Neva in their new place and then went to Deanna's for a late lunch and got a special card from Pops (she ate it, eventually). The photos of Neva and Dalia ended in Dalia grabbing Neva's ear with her razor sharp claws and making her cry for several minutes. We're sure Neva will get Dalia back one of these days.

the best yet

Laughter is the best medicine. Hope you enjoy this as much as we do. Notice how she is almost too big for the changing table now. Time flies, hu?

More fun in the sun

Here are a few more photos from our trip to San Diego. I particularly like the Ergo Baby advertisement. It was definitely rejuvenating and we officially feel like we can travel with Dalia.

Dalia at work with Dad
not too happy for the photo shoot, but the rest of our walk around La Jolla Cove was lovely.

A visit to the Soto Ranch. Dalia was VERY fussy this night - who knows why. Anyway, thanks, guys for making us feel so welcome even with a crazy baby. We loved seeing you.

Ergo Baby should pay me, hu? Dalia is even smiling.

Sun glorious sun

We are in San Diego right now. Dalia and I tagged along with Mark on a work trip. Boy are we glad we did! We've seen some old and dear friends and met some new friends, too. Here are some photos so far. Oh, by the way, Dalia turned 6 months yesterday. She weighs about 16.4 lbs, is 26 inches and can now officially sit up on her own and is already working on pulling herself up to standing.

Dalia meets my teacher, Amy and her daughter Raya

Amy is about to have a baby boy. We're lucky to have gotten to see her!

morning in a strange hotel room

little did we know, our hotel room does not have a bathtub

a visit from my oldest and dearest friend, Ali.
And a trip to the beach - two blocks from our hotel. Mark met us for a while and we got these fun photos.

Ali, Dalia and I spent some time at a cafe for lunch. Dalia was so amazing. Doesn't it look like she's having a conversation? I think she really was. She is such a girl. I love it!

More to come!

Emerging

We have had a couple of rough weeks with sleeping. I'm blaming it on growth, development, Mark being away, teething and a cold all at once. Anyway, Dalia was Dr. Jekyle and Mr. Hyde for a few days. This series of film and photo says it all. There is a toy at the bottom of this basket that I tried to hide from her because I didn't want her to eat it. Not sure what she was getting at, but that is a guess. This was the day she figured out all the toys she plays with live in this basket and do not, as previously thought, appear out of thin air every morning. Needless to say, Dalia is now as exhausted as her Mama and Daddy and is evening out. We're hopeful about some sleep in our future.

a good excuse

Thom and Steph are gettin' married in a couple of weeks. We thought it was a good excuse to have some folks over and try out the baby at a party. We couldn't believe how social she was. She was babbling and squealing away the whole time. We should have done this sooner! Ah, but as you see from the photo before, the sun is shining now, which is yet another reason to celebrate with a party. It's worth noting (Anth and Jen) that Dalia enjoyed her plastic cup, though no singing was involved.

OUTSIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dalia sat in the grass for the first time yesterday. Holy goodness, thank god for the sun and warmth. She loved it until she felt the grass in her feet when she promptly screamed and began to cry - pout and all, of course.

bounce, bounce, bounce

Like I said, Mark was away this week so I didn't have time to post - hence the string of them today. This is the final post for the day. Two things: 1- we've noticed that when people are over and talking, particularly women, Dalia babbles more 2- she figured out that this jumparoo bounces and now she can't get enough of both. (Worth the mention: for those of you who have one of these gadgets you know that there is a weird bug on a long plastic chord. Well, she loves to suck on it so much that in the short time we've had this contraption she's worn the eyes off, which are no doubt painted in China, so I removed it and she has been looking for it ever since...smart, smart baby)

I love this video because she stops mid-bounce when she sees Zoey (Sorry, Stacey, you've made the cut).

Another installment of Dalia and Neva adventures

Poor Dalia was sleepy from Eleanor's birthday party, but that didn't stop her from hanging out with Neva, sad face and all. Are we mean to take these pictures of her thighs? Are they the cutest things you've ever seen? We had just changed her and I held her up without her pants on and we had to take a picture. It's amazing how distinct their personalities are now - Neva is so kicked back.

Eleanor's birthday

We are a little late posting this. Mark was out of town last week so Juli didn't have much time to do anything other than care for little Miss Activity. Here's a few shots from Eleanor's b-day party last weekend. We had such a great time at Dalia's first party.

camera love

So everyone knows Juli and her family love the camera. Might Dalia be one of them? She now loves having her picture taken and the light was nice the other day (I was also bored), so I did a photo shoot.

Photos just aren't enough

Dalia has two new skills: trying fingerfulls of food and SQUEALING. She is trying little bits of avocado and banana, and continuing to play with a bottle at dinnertime. For those of you who know Zoey, you know she responds to whistling. Well, when Dalia squeals she thinks she's calling for her. You can't hear Zoey's in this one, but she is now very close by all the time.
