Yippee!

Our computer has been broken for the past week. We got it fixed and are back in business. It's only 9 in the morning and Dalia is having a nap as she woke up at 5:30 (again - this is the new regular time) and was still tired. For whatever reason, she will not go back to sleep. It's like clockwork. Poor Mom and Dad sip our coffee and try and engage with her after an hour of trying to get her to fall back to sleep with us or entertain herself. Just as we are finally waking up, she starts rubbing her eyes. And, before you know it, she's asking for a nap. If she doesn't get one it's meltdown city. Today she actually had a full-blown temper tantrum. This is relatively new and disturbing for all of us. Thankfully, we know we are not alone and this is all normal...it's amazing what normal is now. :) So, I'm getting some catch up time with my old pal, Mac.

Despite this hiccup in our day, Dalia is AMAZING these days. Each day she says about four or five things that just astounds us. She's using full sentences now pretty regularly and it's so fun. Yesterday, Dalia and I sat at the diningroom table in the afternoon and looked through the Crate and Barrel and Nordstrom Catalogs that came in the mail for about 45 minutes. She thought she was pretty cool. Really, what toddler wants to stay strapped in her chair for almost an hour? It was heaven for me and so fun to see a glimmer of our future together as girls. Yes, I love this part of having a girl.

Oralea and Matt came to town after the long awaited proposal. We had an engagement party for them and such a good time hanging out. Dalia loved having them and is becoming so thoughtfully social.

While she doesn't have a lot of it, Dalia's hair was getting pretty ratty in the back. She had a mullet/tail combination so I cut it a little. She looks so cute. When I tell people she turns around so they can see it. Really, I think girls are just born with some of this stuff. You know I'm not that girly.

By the way, it's worth noting that her favorite toys right now are MegaBlocks, trains and some matchbox cars. And her artwork is taking on a new form - faces. She wants us to draw faces for her and then she pretends to draw eyes.

We also celebrated our sweet friend, Violet's second birthday. As is tradition now, we lined the kids up for a shot on the couch. Dalia hammed it up as usual. It's really no question that the Nelson blood runs strong in our child.

We have some great video we hope to post soon, but we have to download the software for it still.
